Haldon Quartet, based in Devon, and named after the wooded area west of Exeter, the Haldon Hills, enjoy bringing wonderful music to parts of the South West that normally have limited access to professional, live classical music. The connection with their audience is an important part of their approach and their enthusiasm and energetic engagement in their music making has been warmly received.
For this programme they are joined by double bassist Michael Allnatt, adding richness to the texture of the sound, in a diverse selection of music that will appeal to all tastes, including Mozart’s popular masterpiece ‘Eine Kleine Nachtmusik’ and Dvorak’s passionate, rarely heard string quintet Op 77.

Some reactions to previous concerts:
“The music was beautifully and memorably conveyed.”
“That this group (of young and old in the audience) cheered and clapped and wanted more, that the children sat quietly mesmerised, is testament to the ability of the Haldon to bring the quartet repertoire to deepest rural Devon and make it sing to all who listen.”
“They lift the music off the page as one beautifully textured multi-voiced whole.”
