The Salmon’s Journey
Grilse and Kelt, two Atlantic salmon exhausted by their travels from Dartmoor to Greenland and back again and dreading what they must yet face, are greeted by Tamara, a mystical being with a story of her own to share. But can they gather the strength to make that final leap? Folklore, movement and education come together in this tale about the salmon of Devon’s rivers and how we could all play our part in saving their water habitat.
‘LEAP’ is an adaptation of MED Theatre’s 2021 outdoor community play, ‘Salmon’, and explores the ecology and folklore of Devon’s rivers while also sharing an important environmental message.
This is a free event but ‘Pay What You Decide’ donations are welcome after each show – all proceeds will help to fund MED Theatre’s work with young people and adults at risk of isolation.
What audiences said about ‘Salmon’:
“The Salmon were mesmerising in every way”
“The poetic language and the beautiful movement made it impossible to take your eyes off them – and we learnt SO much!”
“This play really did slot firmly and powerfully into the environmental issues which MED are so adept at articulating.”
